Mayoral vetoes are a rarity at City Hall, but the City Council will consider one Friday that may be without precedent in recent history.

That's because the council approved a $63,000 settlement this October to a building owner whose property was flooded by a water main break. Then, a month later, they approved another identical settlement -- by accident.

Lest Riley B. Housley III pick up two checks from City Hall, Mayor R.T. Rybak swiftly vetoed the second measure on Nov. 19.

The Council will "consider" the veto at tomorrow's meeting, according to an agenda.

Too bad for Housley.
