Longtime TV personality Brit Hume will keynote the annual dinner for the Center of the American Experiment in downtown Minneapolis on May 5.

In a bit of awkward timing, the conservative think tank announced Hume's appearance today, three days into a media firestorm over his comments about Tiger Wood, scandal, religion and redemption.

Hume got the controversy rolling On "Fox News Sunday" when Hume suggested that Woods should trade his Buddhist faith for Christianity if he wants to make a personal comback from his travails. He continued:

Rather than back away from his comments, Hume reiterated them in a radio interview Tuesday night, saying Christianity is a religion "uniquely and especially about redemption and forgiveness" and that his "deepest hope" is for Tiger to accept this gift and "be transformed."

The brouhaha will undoubtedly die down by May.Or maybe it will give a boost to the sale of tickets, which start out at $150 and top out at $25,000 for a table of eight.
