Increasing public concern over low water levels on White Bear Lake will be discussed Nov. 15 by U.S. Geological Survey hydrologist Perry M. Jones.

He will present the results of a one-year study of the problem at an open meeting hosted by the Jaques Chapter of the Izaak Walton League that will be held at the Wildwood Library, 763 Stillwater Road in Mahtomedi. The session is scheduled from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m.

"In the past, periods of low lake levels in White Bear Lake have correlated with periods of lower precipitation," Jones said. "However, recent urban expansion and increased groundwater withdrawals from the Prairie du Chien and Jordan Aquifers have put into question whether the recent decline in precipitation is the sole cause for the current water-level decline in White Bear Lake."

WASHINGTON COUNTY

Civil and family cases converted to e-filings Washington County District Court will be offering attorneys and government agencies the opportunity to participate in eFiling and eService with civil and family cases effective Nov. 26, said Court Administrator Annette Fritz.

eFiling is the use of an online application, which requires no special hardware or software, to electronically file cases through the Judicial Branch case management system. Benefits of eFiling include not having to go to a courthouse to file, around-the-clock access to eFiling, and elimination of faxing.

eService provides the opportunity to electronically serve registered parties and eliminate U.S. mail costs.

eFiling and eService also will allow judges and court staff to view and work with the most up-to-date case documents from anywhere, even when someone else is viewing the case file, Fritz said.
