EAGAN/LAKEVILLE

Food shelf recognized by national group

The Eagan and Lakeville Resource Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating hunger in Dakota County, has received recognition by Guide Star, a national group that reports on the effectiveness of nonprofits.

The resource center was named one of the top 15 nonprofits working in Minnesota to provide healthy food to families in need. It was one of three food shelves in the state to receive the recognition.

The resource center, at 3910 Rahn Road in Eagan, operates two food shelves, one in Eagan and one in Lakeville. It sends mobile food shelves to Apple Valley, Inver Hills Community College and Dakota County Technical College and offers 80 garden plots at five locations.

The recognition singles out nonprofit agencies making a high impact in their field and serves as a guide for people who may want to donate to the best organizations.

For more information about the resource center, see www.eaganrc.org.
