Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun starting against Reds after DL stint for injured right thumb

July 9, 2013 at 11:00PM

MILWAUKEE — Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun is in the lineup Tuesday night against the Cincinnati Reds, his first start in nearly a month after going on the disabled list with an injured right thumb.

Braun was activated Monday after going on the DL on June 10 and missing 21 games. He is hitting .304 with nine homers — seven of which came in April — and 36 RBIs.

Braun's name surfaced in documents linked to the Biogenesis clinic in Miami but he has denied using performance-enhancing drugs. Braun has said his name was in those documents only because his attorneys used clinic operator Tony Bosch as a consultant when Braun successfully appealed a 50-game suspension after testing positive for elevated testosterone levels in October 2011.

Braun was unavailable for comment before Tuesday night's game.
