The Wild re-signed its last remaining restricted free agent Sunday by inking minor-league winger Brett Bulmer to a one-year, two-way contract. Bulmer, a 2010 second-round pick, scored a disappointing four goals and 12 assists in 53 games with the Iowa Wild last season.

To say Bulmer has a lot to prove this season is an understatement. He has 20 goals and 44 points in 145 AHL games. Always considered a project, Bulmer's spot on the Wild depth chart has fallen dramatically since getting a nine-game trial run with the Wild before being returned to junior hockey in 2011. He has played five scoreless NHL games in three seasons since and wasn't close to a callup last season.

As I said, all players are signed with training camp beginning Sept. 17.

I'll post a couple podcasts this week on malepatternpodcasts.com with columnist Jim Souhan. Check them out. They have been well received.

I also hope to make my annual State Fair appearance at the Star Tribune back porch with a Wild guest. Stay tuned for information on that.

Camp's a month away!

The Wild’s Brock Faber played in the 2022 Games in Beijing when he was still at the University of Minnesota and NHL players stayed at home. In 2026, he’s back.
