The Timberwolves officially announced the signing of shooting guard/small forward Brandon Rush, the three-point shooting specialist who agreed to a 1-year, $3.5 million deal during the NBA's negotiating period.
Rush, 31, shot 41.4 percent on three-pointers for Golden State last season, averaging 4.2 points, 2.5 rebounds in 72 games. Rush, whose shooting should help space the floor for the Wolves offense, is one of 11 active players to shoot 40 percent or better on three-pointers with at least 1,000 career attempts.
The Wolves have yet to officially announce the signing of center Cole Aldrich, who agreed to a 3-year, $22 million deal last week. The team might be waiting for Aldrich to return from his vacation in Italy. He is due back Monday.
Aldrich and Cole were teammates on Kansas' 2008 NCAA championship team.
And here's another Timberwolves connection for Rush. His older brother, Kareem Rush, was the fellow who hit on six of seven three-pointers, scoring 18 points for the Los Angeles Lakers in a 96-90 victory over the Wolves in the deciding Game 6 of the 2004 Western Conference finals.
