We noted in today's paper that there appeared to be a good chance John David Booty could be returning to the Vikings practice squad since the quarterback's locker at Winter Park hadn't been cleaned out and still had his practice jersey, helmet, etc.

Well, today it happened as Booty was re-signed to the practice squad only three days after being let go so the Vikings could sign tackle Clint Oldenburg. Oldbenburg was released. The news was reported on the Vikings website.

The fact the Vikings' separation with Booty would be a short one doesn't come as a surprise considering coach Brad Childress admitted Wednesday that the Vikings needed to bring in another offensive lineman for practice purposes.

"I'm not going to rule out bringing [Booty] back," Childress said. "But we do what we need to do to make it through week-by-week."

Booty, a fifth-round pick of the Vikings in 2008, isn't getting many (if any) reps in practice but clearly the Vikings see something in him and want to have him in the organization.
