Columbus, Ohio – Senior forward Rachael Bona had a goal and two assists as the No. 2-ranked Gophers beat Ohio State 4-2 on Friday in a WCHA women's hockey game.

Maryanne Menefee scored with 27 seconds left in the opening period to put Minnesota (8-1-2, 6-1-2 WCHA) ahead 1-0. That lead grew to 3-0 by the middle of the second period. Kate Schiffer scored in the third minute and Meghan Lorence added a power-play goal in the 10th. Bona had assists on both goals.

But the Buckeyes' Taylor Kuehl quickly closed the gap. Only 54 seconds after Lorence's goal, Kuehl scored on an Ohio State power play at 10:52 and, still on a power play, scored again 14 seconds later to make it 3-2.

Bona answered 38 seconds later to restore the Gophers' two-goal lead.

To recap that crazy sequence, each team scored twice in a stretch of 1:46. The first three goals came on power plays.

Neither team scored after that flurry. The Gophers, who were coming off a 1-0 loss to Bemidji State two weekend ago, outshot Ohio State 44-18.

Amanda Leveille made 16 saves for the Gophers, Kassidy Sauve 40 for the Buckeyes (7-5, 5-4).
