Body recovered from Mississippi near Coon Rapids Dam

July 20, 2014 at 3:19AM

The body of an unidentified adult male was pulled from the Mississippi River in Brooklyn Park on Saturday, the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office reported.

The body had been in the river for "some time," according to a news release. The department is investigating, and the Hennepin County medical examiner's office is expected to identify the body.

The recovery was unrelated to a call the Sheriff's Office received at 6 p.m. about a pontoon boat in distress in the river near the Coon Rapids Dam.

The office reported to the scene and found a pontoon boat that was fine and not in trouble, the news release said.

Shortly after that false alarm, another report came in of an unrelated incident and the body was found.
