A fine article on birding in India appears in the travel section of Sunday's New York Times. The link is
http://travel.nytimes.com/2011/01/16/travel/16India.html?ref=todayspaper.
Noteworthy is the attitude of the author. He views bird travel not as a destination but as a trip, a trip to be savored and enjoyed at a pace allowing unexpected rewards. The author, Somini Sengupta, writes: "...even in ordinary surroundings, birding has taught me to appreciate the rewards of being still. You hear a call. You look for a flutter. Suddenly something astonishing comes. And then goes."
