A 27-year-old man from Bigfork, Minn., died Monday in a car-semi crash on Hwy. 6, 12 miles north of Deer River, Minn., in Itasca County, the State Patrol reported.

Driver Samuel Deotis was killed and his passenger, Nora Emery, 24, also of Bigfork, was critically injured just before 5 p.m. Deotis was southbound on Hwy. 6 when he turned left and his car was struck broadside by a semi driven by Andrew Michalek, 58, of Blackduck, which was also southbound on Hwy. 6. Michalek was not hurt.

Also Monday, authorities released the name of a driver who strayed into the wrong lane near Gull Lake, Minn., and died in a collision with another car Saturday.

Anthony J. White, 20, of Nisswa, was killed on County Road 77, the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office said. The other car's driver, Kaitlyn Bach, 20, of Pequot Lakes, Minn., and Bach's passenger, Emily E. Raaen, 20, of Jordan, Minn., were injured. White was driving east on County Road 77 north of Gull Lake when he lost control and struck Bach's car.
