Big girls' basketball gathering Saturday in Hopkins

Many of the state's top teams will be at Hopkins for a two-court, 24-team, 12-game day of hoops.

The first big event of the winter sports season will be held Saturday when 24 girls' basketball teams gather at Hopkins High School. The event is the Breakdown Tip-Off Classic. The lineup of 12 games begins at 10 a.m. and the final tipoff is scheduled for 7:45.

Two courts will be used at the Lindbergh Center, which could double as an airplane hanger. Our girls' basketball season preview will be published in Thursday's paper, and it will include info on many of the teams involved in this event. Here is the lineup of Saturday's games...
