On a summer night deep in the heart of Minnesota’s resort country, stop in the town of Crosslake at Moonlight Bay, a onetime dance hall originally built in 1933, and now a restaurant and bar with outside seating for, well, lots. You’ll meet boatloads of bass anglers after tournament fishing — each looking for (and often finding) 3-, 4- and 5-pound bucketmouth bass. Fourteen lakes make up the chain, among them Upper and Lower Whitefish. Each holds bass, some trophy size. whitefish.org
