As all toddlers know, hills were made for rolling down. When they spot the 32-foot-high man-made mound on this 7-acre plot along the Mississippi next to the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, they want to run up and tumble down, repeatedly, while Mom and Dad take their leisure strolling up the spiral walkway. Named for a popular product of the former milling district it abuts, the six-year-old Gold Medal Park offers ample street parking, a great view of the Stone Arch Bridge and plenty of space to spread out a picnic blanket while the kids exhaust themselves. Accessible on S. 2nd Street, next to the Guthrie.
