Best Buy Co. Inc. said Thursday night that an unspecified problem prevented it from fulfilling a very small percentage of online orders during Thanksgiving weekend and the following week.
The Richfield-based retailer said it will not be able to process some of its online orders by Friday, including some made the day after Thanksgiving.
The company said the issue affected less than one percent of orders, which doesn't sound like a whole lot. But the time period includes some of the year's busiest online traffic, including Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Total online sales from Nov. 24 -28 totaled $3.5 billion, according to comScore.
Best Buy said it will offer e-gift cards to affected customers.

Due to overwhelming demand of hot product offerings on BestBuy.com during Thanksgiving weekend and the following week, we have encountered a situation that affected redemption of less than one percent of our customers' online orders during that timeframe. The challenges related to this situation are being addressed. We are very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused, and are providing e-Gift Cards to the affected customers.
