Authorities in Bemidji stopped by a house Tuesday afternoon to serve a warrant in connection with criminal sexual conduct charges, only to be met with a bizarre response: The man barricaded himself in the bedroom and stabbed himself three times.
Beltrami County Sheriff Phil Hodapp told the Bemidji Pioneer his office was assisted by agents from the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. The man, 43-year-old Wendell Lee Olson of Cloquet, was served a Carlton County warrant for third-degree sexual conduct at the house about two miles west of Bemidji.
"We're glad nobody else in the house was hurt in the incident," the sheriff said.
Olson was taken to the hospital and a second man was arrested on theft charges.
