All-comers snowshoe

Brown's Creek State Trail, 10 a.m.-noon Saturday

A program for all experience levels. Bring your own snowshoes or reserve a pair from the park. Child snowshoes are not available. Reservations required; call 651-231-6968 or e-mail linda.radimecky@state.mn.us. Meet at the Gasthaus Bavarian Hunter restaurant parking area (8390 Lofton Av.) in Stillwater (mndnr.gov).

Snowshoe basics

William O'Brien State Park, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday

Learn some fundamentals and then set out into the park. Look for animals and their tracks. Reservations are required; call 651-433-0500. Check for updates.

Active by candlelight

Frontenac State Park, 6-8 p.m. Saturday

Enjoy a 1-mile, gently rolling trail by boot, ski or snowshoe. Afterward, warm up by a fire with cocoa and snacks provided by the Frontenac State Park Association. (651-345-3401, mndnr.gov)

Minneopa festival

Minneopa State Park, 5-8 p.m. Saturday

A festive family event for cross-country skiers, snowshoers and walkers. There will be a bonfire and treats, too. Bring your own marshmallows and hot dogs to roast (sticks will be provided). Meet at the group campground off Hwy. 68. (1-320-852-7200, mndnr.gov)

Skate ski lesson

Hyland Lake Park Reserve, 7-8:30 p.m. Saturday

Learn the basics, from efficient edging and gliding to control. Prior classic skiing experience recommended; otherwise, a private lesson is encouraged. Cost is $28 ($45 with ski rental). Reservations are required. Call 763-559-6700 and reference activity #122967-07. (threeriversparks.org)

Skate ski II

Elm Creek Park Reserve, Noon-1:30 p.m. Saturday

Elm Creek Park Reserve, 1-2:30 p.m. Sunday

Family snowshoe

Baker Near-Wilderness Settlement, 1-2:30 p.m. Monday
