UPDATES: Scott Baker gave up seven runs on seven hits and a walk in 2 1/3 innings today in the Twins' 10-4 loss to tampa Bay. he gave up a pair of home runs, including a grand slam to Ben Zobrist in the second inning, as well as two doubles.
Ryan Doumit hit a home run for the Twins.

Outfielder Josh Willingham was a late scratch with a sore ankle and has been replaced with Ben Revere. The injury is not considered serious.

The Twins have reassigned righthander Brendan Wise to the minor league camp, bringing their roster down to 38 with a little over one week of camp remaining.

Righthander Scott Baker, on his quest to pitch the home opener on April 9, is on the mound for the Twins.

While the team was in Jupiter yesterday, I slid over the minor league fields and watched some camp day action. Watched an outfielder named Romy Jimenez clobber back-to-back homers (the wind was blowing out) with a sweet swing. Jimenez, 20, was injured part of last year and played in just eight games for the Gulf Coast League rookie team. I'm guessing he'll start there again this year. He's listed at 6-2 and 170 but clearly is filling out. Too early to tell if he amounts to anything but at least I'll recognize the name.

Shortstop Tyler Grimes, their fifth round pick last year, has a very strong arm.

Watched righthander Madison Boer, their second round pick last year. What impressed me was that he kept most of his pitches down and at the knees. Good breaking ball.

Alex Wimmers faced New Britain on the neighboring field. Didn't watch much of his outing but he gave up one run over three innings with two walks and three strikeouts, hitting 88-91 on the gun.

There's a chance that Wimmers could start the season at Class AA New Britain.

Chatted with Jamey Carroll this morning. He's played in 13 games but said only a handfull of balls have been hit his way. In fact, Carroll said he and Alexi Casilla have not hooked up on any double plays yet this spring training. Wow.

Not that it's criticial, but you'd think they would have turned a couple by now.
