No act has performed at the Minnesota State Fair's grandstand more times than Alabama, and they're doing it one more time. The fair today announced a Thursday, Sept. 1, date with the country music vets, which will be their 19th show there. Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. via the fair box office, eTix.com or (800) 514-3849. Nashville trio Levon will open.
That's the final concert to be announced in the fair's 2016 grandstand season. Fair organizers had to hold off on announcing it until after Alabama's gig this past weekend at Grand Casino Hinckley. The family band behind the '80s hits "Mountain Music" and "If You're Gonna Play in Texas" went on a hiatus in 2003 but returned to the road in 2013.
Another country music show of note for that same week: Mankato's great riverside outdoor venue, the Vetter Stone Amphitheater, will welcome enduring twanger Dwight Yoakam on Sunday, Sept. 4. Tickets go on sale for $33-$123 this Saturday at 10 a.m. via the Verizon Wireless Center's box office in Mankato or Ticketmaster.
