Heading into a critical election year, longtime conservative activist and ex-Minnesota GOP chairman Ron Carey is joining forces with Rep. Michele Bachmann, who has hired him as her new chief of staff. Carey, who stepped down as party chairman last April, starts his new job next Monday. He replaces Michelle Marston, a veteran Capitol Hill aide who left in November.
