Republican U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann will not be attending the Minnesota GOP state convention in St. Cloud, her campaign said.

Bachmann, whose congressional district includes St. Cloud, got held up by committee work, said Chase Kroll, campaign manager.

Some Republican activists had hoped Bachmann would attend and speak at the convention. Bachmann's stirring speeches are often a crowd favorite among the GOP faithful.

But others voiced doubts about whether she belonged on the list for possible national convention delegates because she failed to attend the convention in person. Such objections were ruled out of order and not discussed.

Bachmann, who had an unsuccessful presidential run, is running for re-election in Minnesota's 6th Congressional District.

The convention ends Saturday.
