We all know how DJs and electronic artists like to spin things, and it sounds like there's a little bit of that going on in this morning's announcement that Avicii's May 25 concert at Target Center is moving to a new date and venue.

The show has been rescheduled for Sept. 7 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

It's not yet clear where exactly in the convention center it will be staged, though – presumably either in the seated auditorium where concerts are usually held there, or else in one of the domed, cement-floored mega-halls that more often play host to RV, fishing, quilting, etc., types of shows. All tickets to the original May 25 date will be honored at the new site.

The press release announcing the change says the start date of the Swedish dance artist's entire tour will be moved to June 7 "to allow for vital production changes." These changes, which are delaying about a dozen other shows, are apparently based on the hi-fi set that Avicii premiered at the Coachella Music Fest last month.

According to Mark Ward of AVICII's production team, "The production is a re-invention of modern technology in an unexplored area of application seeing the 3-D mapping is done on an organic surface and mixed in real time. In its complexity we discovered some technical issues at Coachella that could compromise the quality of the experience for the fans which is why we are recommending we move the tour starting date up to a month later."

Huh?! Whatever he means by "unexplored area of application done on an organic surface," one can't help but wonder if the more simply stated "soft ticket sales" aren't also a reason for the date and venue change. New tickets to the Sept. 7 show will go on sale soon.
