Authorities have identified the woman who was killed by a vehicle Friday night while she was walking in Mahtomedi.

Robyn Hansen, 47, of Willernie, was wearing dark clothing and walking in the traffic lane on Hilton Trail, where it runs close to Hallam Avenue, about 9 p.m. Friday, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

A car driven by Alec Saatzer, 19, of Pine Springs, Minn., was heading northbound and struck and killed her, authorities said.

Hansen was taken to Regions Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Saatzer, who had tried to avoid her, stopped immediately and is cooperating with authorities. No citations were issued.

Police had been asked to check on the welfare of the woman and were searching for her when they received news that she had been struck.

Another deadly vehicle-pedestrian accident happened Saturday night in Moorhead, Minn.

According to a preliminary report from the Minnesota State Patrol, the incident happened shortly before 8:30 on westbound Interstate 94 at 34th Street.

Kristi Garden, 55, was killed after being struck by an SUV driven by Benjamin Deraas, 25, of Fargo, N.D., according to the patrol. Further details have not yet been released.
