Authorities have identified the man who died last week in a north Minneapolis house fire.

Robert L. Holmberg, 55, is the resident who was pulled Tuesday from an upper-level bedroom of a house in the 3600 block of Dupont Avenue N., according to the Hennepin County medical examiner's office.

Holmberg died from smoke inhalation, the examiner's office determined.

Paramedics and firefighters performed resuscitation efforts on Holmberg, who was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center in critical condition, Assistant Fire Chief Bryan Tyner said. Holmberg died the next day.

A second person in the house was able to get out unharmed, Tyner said.

The flames were extinguished within 15 minutes, and the blaze was largely contained to the room where it originated. The cause of the fire has been ruled accidental, Tyner said.
