A 33-year-old woman from Sauk Rapids, Minn., died Friday night in a crash near St. Cloud, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Sheena Grimstad was heading north around 7 p.m. on Hwy. 15 in a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu at a "high rate of speed," according to the patrol. Then, the vehicle struck a light pole on County Road 1, the patrol said, and Grimstad was not wearing a seatbelt.

The Malibu also hit a pickup truck stopped at a red light, the patrol said. The driver of the truck has been identified as Christina Hasselbring, 40, of St. Joseph, and her condition is unknown.

At 8 p.m. Friday, the Sartell Police Department posted on Facebook that travelers should avoid the intersection "due to a bad crash" and that "most of the intersection will be closed for quite some time."

In May, the state Department of Transportation began resurfacing that area, along with other intersections along Hwy. 15.

"When complete, the project will result in a smoother ride, improve traffic flow and accessibility and improve pedestrian safety," MnDOT said in a news release.
