A 55-year-old woman from Oakdale died Saturday afternoon in a motorcycle crash on Hwy. 61 in Goodhue County, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Janean K. Thielman was a passenger on a Harley-Davidson driven by Joseph C. Frisch, 55, of Madelia, Minn., that veered out of the southbound lanes and hit a sign about 3:30 p.m.

The crash happened near the intersection with the so-called Welch shortcut.

Red Wing firefighters and medics were called to the crash, which occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m., along with a Mayo One medical helicopter. Frisch was taken to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, where he was in serious condition late Saturday.

Neither Frisch nor Thielman was wearing a helmet, the State Patrol said. No alcohol use was detected in either.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
