Fruitful and Multiplying: The Overpopulation Exhibit

Opening Friday: In the past 50 years, world population has more than doubled. This is an alarming factoid on a planet with finite resources. In "Fruitful and Multiplying," four artists — Mayumi Amada (whose installation is shown here), Michael Kareken, Jim Proctor and John Schuerman — focus on overpopulation and its effects. Work by 13 additional artists will hang in a salon-style display, and the show will be buttressed with information from World Population Balance, a Twin Cities nonprofit. Related events include artist talks and theatrical performances about these life-threatening issues. (Opening reception 6-8 p.m. Fri. Free. Bloomington Center for the Arts, 1800 W. Old Shakopee Road, Bloomington. Ends May 30. 952-563-8575 or www.btacmn.org)
