Outside the Frame

Opening Saturday: Successful immigrants shed the past, adopt new languages and build lives on foreign turf. Having grown up in Yugoslavia, Vesna Krezich Kittelson now divides her life between Minneapolis and Croatia, an ancient country reborn after the breakup of her homeland. Her disrupted heritage heightens her sensitivity to the lives of immigrants whose portraits she paints in three dimensions, and to the mutable lives and languages she recalls in an installation and the new collaged sculptures "Babel Tower" and "Twice Born." The 2012 portrait shown here is of "Lulu." (Opening reception 6-8 p.m. Sat., free. Form + Content Gallery, 210 N. 2nd St., Mpls. Ends March 30. 612-436-1151 or www.formandcontent.org.)
