This weekend

So much art, so little time. With more than 400 artists opening their studios to show (and hopefully sell) their paintings, photos, pots, jewelry and more at 50-plus locations in northeast Minneapolis, art enthusiasts have to move fast and have a plan. The Northeast Minneapolis Arts Association, which sponsors the shindig, has lots of helpful tools: maps, a calendar of events, a dining guide, a new website, updated trolley routes with stops at key locations, an artist directory. Plus information booths in major studio buildings and two outdoor locations (13th Av. NE. at Marshall and NE. Quincy Street at Broadway). There'll be lots of live music, as well -- plus you can catch this fab 1985 photo of Bob Dylan at Zuma Beach, Calif., in a new show at Icebox Gallery, 1500 NE. Jackson St., #443. The photo stars in David Michael Kennedy's "On the Road & Portraits," a show of original platinum/palladium prints that runs through Sept. 8. Known for his album covers of Bruce Springsteen, Muddy Waters, Willie Nelson, Cheap Trick and other music legends, Kennedy left New York City 25 years ago and moved to El Rito, N.M. The show will be split between portraits of musicians and smart pictures of places he's encountered while roaming more than 70,000 miles of American backroads.
