'Biafracaw: To Inform and Delight'
Street art comes indoors for this collaborative show by Biafracaw. Equal parts graffiti and pop art, the duo consists of local street artists Chris Williams and Biafra Inc., a Cult Status regular and sometime Deuce 7 collaborator. Expect work in a similar vein to both artists' solo work: stenciled, spray-painted pop-culture icons and Lichtenstein-esque, comic book-style illustrations. Free opening reception 7-10 p.m. Sat 1/15. 'James Kielkopf: Then and Now Part II'
In an informal retrospective spanning 45 years, St. Paul painter Kielkopf will show his lyrical new geometric collages and paintings with pencil drawings and sculpture from the late 1960s and early 1970s. His colorful recent images are layered with pastel spheres and ovoids that appear to float and bob in watery voids. Their pretty colors and harmonic tones evoke sunny summer days that are a welcome alternative to the brisk winter season. More event details.
