Minneapolis police have arrested a 43-year-old man in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man near the Lake Street light-rail station Tuesday night.

The man was arrested by the Minneapolis Police Department's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team, police said in a statement.

Officers from the Third Precinct responded to the 2200 block of E. Lake Street just after 7 p.m. on Tuesday after several people called 911 to report a stabbing, police said.

The victim was identified as Daquan Lee Thompson, 26, of Minneapolis. He died of a stab wound to the chest, the Hennepinc County medical examiner's office said.

He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he died.

This is the 32nd homicide victim in Minneapolis this year, police said.
