GLENDALE, Ariz. — Police say a road rage fight in a Phoenix suburb ended when a woman put in a headlock by another woman shot and wounded her attacker.

Wednesday's conflict began when one vehicle reportedly cut off another vehicle.

Glendale police Sgt. Scott Waite said Thursday the vehicles stopped and the unidentified drivers got out of their vehicles.

One woman put the other in a headlock and the restrained woman warned her attacker that she would shoot her if she did not stop the assault.

Waite says the fight continued and the woman in the headlock fired one shot, wounding her attacker and ending the fight.

He says the woman who opened fire stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.

The wounded woman was hospitalized and expected to survive.
