CLEVELAND -- His presence in the lineup has allowed Chris Parmelee, Ryan Doumit, Josh Willingham and Justin Morneau to take days off, but today Oswaldo Arcia is the one who gets to rest. The rookie, who has started 12 consecutive games since being called up when Darin Mastroianni went on the disabled list, is not in the Twins' lineup against Indians lefty Scott Kazmir.

In fact, Ron Gardenhire is using what is basically the Twins' A lineup today, with the exception of Doumit catching and Joe Mauer serving as designated hitter for a day game after a night game. He's also moved Trevor Plouffe, a righthander who homered last night -- the first opposite-field home run of his career, by the way -- to fifth in the order, ahead of Doumit, who is better from the left side than right, and Parmelee, another lefty who also homered Friday.

Kazmir is battling to regain major-league form after a slow descent from the ace who once struck out 239 batters for the Devil Rays (as they were known then). Injuries have cost him some velocity, but Gardenhire said he admires how Kazmir has reinvented himself as a pitcher who gets batters out by changing speeds and location. Still, he's 0-1 this season with an 8.64 ERA.

Nick Swisher is back for the Indians, though only as DH, after missing three games with a sore shoulder.
