Today’s trophy tales
Dan Schwartz, Maple Grove • 50-inch muskie • Metropolitan area
After he had trolled for about 15 minutes on an undisclosed metropolitan-area lake, Schwartz’s rod bent and he knew a big one was hooked. It was released after a measurement and pictures.
Cathy Lyon of Sandstone was fishing Saganaga Lake on the Minnesota/Canada border for lake trout two weeks ago when she caught this 40-inch-plus northern pike in 46 feet of water.
Rhoda Brooks of Excelsior, fishing with her son and grandson on a July afternoon, caught her first northern on Excelsior Bay. Fishing near the shallows off Commons Park, she used a Shad Rap.
