What the what?

This is good news and bad news, I guess. Bad news: we're not going to get another good Alien movie. Ridley Scott did the first one over 30 years ago, and it wasn't just the most harrowing movie of its time, it still makes modern scary movies look like cartoons. "Aliens" was the best sci-fi war movie ever made, thanks to James Cameron. After that, meh. For years geeks lived in trembling anticipation of the possibility of an "Aliens vs. Predators" comic book, to say nothing of a movie; when the films finally arrived, they stunk. It's a lousy franchise, and bringing Scott back seemed like we might recapture the skill of the original.

On the other hand, who needs an "Alien" prequel? Has anyone been walking around for three decades wondering what happened on the ship that crashed on the planet with all the alien eggs? I assumed they were either carrying the things for a reason, or had been infected by the creatures along the way. Either way, it was better for being a mystery.
