In Sunday's article about Aldi's expansion plans in Minnesota and beyond, a chart listing a price check of 7 grocery staples appeared only in print. Here's a look at the surprising findings if you missed them online. Of the nearly 20 Aldi and Walmart shoppers I interviewed in Dubuque, Iowa on June 3, none of them were aware of the price war going on between the two discount grocers.

Many consumers appear to be quicker to realize when prices go up than when prices go down. If you didn't think a price war would be very significant, notice that Walmart's price total on the 7 items is nearly 25% higher in Bloomington, MN than in Dubuque, IA.
