Al Franken to appear on "Jeopardy!"

The Minnesota senator will compete against journalists and entertainers in the long-running game show's charity event.

Al Franken isn't running for political office this year, but he's still up for some heady competition.

The Minnesota senator will participate in "Jeopardy!'s Power Players Week," featuring 15 pundits, personalities and politicians. The field includes comedian Louie C.K., CNN's Anderson Cooper and "Mad Men" creator Matthew Weiner.

The A&Q event will be taped April 9 at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington D.C. and will air during the week of May 16. New episodes of "Jeopardy!," one of the most durable game shows in TV history, air locally at 3:30 p.m. on KARE, Ch. 11.

Winners of each game will earn a minimum of $50,000 for the charity of their choice. Franken is representing the USO.

Other participants: CNN's Kate Bolduan, author Jonathan Franzen, commentator S.E. Cupp, poliltical analyst David Gregory, journalist Jonathan Capehart, Prof. Melissa Harris-Perry, ABC's Sunny Hostin, "60 Minutes" correspondent Lara Logan, Republican strategist Ana Navarro, political analyst Michael Steele and "Meet the Press" host Chuck Todd.
