Minneapolis is the first stop on a 18-city North American concert tour this summer for Aerosmith, the Hall of Fame rock band's promoter announced Monday.

Tickets for the June 16 Target Center show go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Saturday. Prices range from $37.50 to $147.50. There are VIP packages available earlier in the week. Visit www.ticketmaster.com for details.

The opening act for "The Global Warming Tour" is Cheap Trick.

The arena tour wraps up in Tacoma, Wash., on Aug. 8, however, the promoter said that additional dates for a second leg of the tour will be announced later.

Fronted by Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, Aerosmith helped define rock 'n' roll throughout the 1970s with such hits as "Sweet Emotion," "Dream On" and "Walk This Way."

The band, which broke up for a spell in the early 1980s, had been rumored to be on the rocks since Tyler fell off the stage and broke his shoulder at an Aerosmith show in August 2009 in Sturgis, S.D.

Since then, Tyler has carved out another career path as a judge on FOX-TV's "American Idol" talent show.
