Advance tix: Larry says 'Git-R-Done'

Larry the Cable Guy might not be the most cerebral comedian -- actually, he can be downright buffoonish -- but he sells tickets. The stand-up comic will perform two shows Jan. 15 and 16 at the State Theatre, so get your seats soon. He sold out several shows at Mystic Lake Casino in 2008 at $69 a pop. His new comedy CD, "Tailgate Party," debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard comedy charts.

7:30 p.m. Jan. 15 and 8 p.m. Jan. 16. 805 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls. $49.75. 1-800-982-2787. www.hennepintheatretrust.org

Bowling for charity

Bowl, drink beer, fight hunger. Sounds like a night well spent. On Sunday, the Bryant-Lake Bowl and Fulton brewery are hosting "The Last Holiday Turkey," a beer and bowling tournament to benefit the Joyce Uptown Food Shelf. The $10 ticket (plus a nonperishable food item) will cover the cost of bowling, shoe rental, a pint of Fulton's Sweet Child of Vine, appetizers and a token good for one free game on your next visit.

4-8 p.m. Sun. 810 W. Lake St., Mpls. $10.

Breakin' into the Southern

The Twin Cities break dancing scene has produced its fair share of theater shows. But this one, "The Way," sounds like a can't-miss experience. Veteran b-boy, J-Sun, and the Battlecats present a hip-hop dance piece filled with "stem cells, MCs, DJs and aliens who tell us 'communicate or die!'" (that's how the show's been described, at least). The night is split-billed with Kenna Sarge's show, which mixes West African rhythms and hip-hop dance.

7:30 p.m. Jan. 14, 8 p.m. Jan. 15-16, 7 p.m. Jan. 17. 1420 Washington Av. S., Mpls. $22. 612-340-1725. www.southerntheater.org.
