St. Paul film distributor Tim Grady, president of Adopt Films, announced his firm has acquired all U.S. rights to “Bethlehem,” the award-winning Israeli espionage thriller that made its North American premiere at the Telluride Film Festival.
The film concerns the precarious relationship between an Israeli Secret Service officer and  his teenage Palestinian informant, whose militant older brother is targeted by Israel for capture – or assassination.  Israeli director Yuval Adler and Muslim screenwriter Ali Waked explore the characters' tangled political and personal loyalties.
The trade paper Variety said, “This tightly wound clock-ticking thriller examines the Arab-Israeli conflict to impressive effect.” In its launch at the Venice Film Festival, it won the Days of Venice Award for Best Film. Adopt plans a late winter 2014 release.
