Every weekday, we walk you through what's going on with the Vikings.

WHAT YOU MIGHT HAVE MISSED

— The Vikings have showcased great depth during the first seven weeks of the season. On Monday, coach Mike Zimmer indicated the team might have to lean on that depth even more when announcing that center John Sullivan re-injured himself and defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd had cartilage removed from his knee.

— Defensive tackle Linval Joseph might be the best nose tackle that Zimmer has ever coached. The Vikings coach got excited when given the chance to highlight his nose tackle on Monday.

— The Vikings hope to end long losing streak in Chicago on Sunday. They haven't won in the Windy City since 2007.

BEHIND ENEMY LINES

— Chicago coach John Fox downplays the drama surrounding Jeremiah Ratliff's release. Ratliff, an 11-year NFL veteran, showed up to practice last week in no condition to work and was soon let go.

— The Five Things to watch for following the Bears' bye week. The biggest question could be, can quarterback Jay Cutler finish strong?

TODAY'S VIKINGS SCHEDULE

Players have the day off and will be back in the building at Winter Park Wednesday.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT

The Vikings might have started slow defensively last Sunday against Detroit, but a quick look at the drive chart shows a different story for the offense. The group scored on seven of their first eight drives, totaling all 28 points during this stretch. The offense fumbled on the third drive of the game, but responded with a touchdown on the next possession. "Obviously we've got to get better in the red zone, we can't give up big plays defensively, we didn't handle some things well in the running game, but there was also some good things. We scored on [seven] of the first [eight] drives offensively. I thought we did a nice job in the two minute situation. We were able to go down and score and then come back in the first part of the third quarter and we got the ball back and scored again. The guys kept fighting."
