Last month, Money Magazine rated Woodbury among the best places to live in the United States. Let's hope residents believe there's no such thing as bad publicity, because it's also been named Minnesota's top city for people wanting to have an affair.
A rather scarlet press release came from AshleyMadison.com, a Canadian company describing itself as a "dating site designed for those already in relationships," a phrase destined for the euphemism Hall of Fame. Its slogan cuts to the chase: "Life is short. Have an affair."
With stunning indiscretion, given the nature of its services, the company is touting the Twin Cities' 10 least-faithful cities, based, it says, on the almost 74,000 folks from the metro area who are registered with the service. Woodbury supposedly has the highest percentage of female members, fulfilling the company's strategy of first attracting women to its site, counting on sugar daddies to follow.
Second place for would-be adulterers goes to Edina, calling into question whether the "A word" in the city's snarky acronym, "Every day I need attention," warrants changing.
Rounding out the list: Coon Rapids, Plymouth, Eagan, downtown Minneapolis, Wayzata, Minnetonka, Apple Valley and, finally, Maplewood, said to have the most single women seeking married men.
St. Paul and many of its other suburbs? Nowhere in sight. Then again, it's long been known as "the saintly city."
