Ancestors: His grandmother Minnie Otherday was descended from John Otherday, who is credited with saving dozens of settlers and government workers during the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862.
Childhood: Youngest of eight kids, was 9 when his father died of cancer. Grew up in Eden Prairie and moved to the Prior Lake area in 1969 when his parents were among the organizers of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community, settling on a parcel of land set aside in the 1880s for "friendly" Dakota following the 1862 war.
Experience: Elected vice chairman in January, after rising from project manager to vice president to seven-term member of the tribe's board of gambling directors during the past 20 years.
Vehicles include: 1999 Jaguar XJ8, Cessna Cardinal small plane and Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
