Brett Favre loves to play the aw-shucks card and with his southern drawl he's very capable of it. But don't think for one second that Favre is a dummy. This guy knows exactly what's going on and is usually a step ahead of everyone else.

That's why it should come as no surprise that while Favre has never flat out denied he sent inappropriate photos via cell phone to former Jets sideline reporter Jenn Sterger when he played for the team in 2008, he also hasn't come close to answering any questions from the media about the topic.

Instead, Favre or one of his people have decided that each time he's asked about the allegations he simply turns it into a football-related answer. Today, was no different.

The final two questions to Favre were about how he is handling the potential distractions that go along with all that has been happening. Favre never focused on the personal side of this and instead shaped the answers into how he saw fit. See for yourself.

Q. You've been through a lot on and off the field during your career. Where does this rank right now with the allegations and the play on the field and everything together?

A. "I don't know. I don't rank them. I'll say this. I'm thrilled to be here and have an opportunity to lead this team to a Super Bowl. This week I was thrilled that we got Randy [Moss]. There's still a lot of football left. I feel very confident in a lot of ways. You go through different things in your life. Football is a very tough sport, mentally and physically. Last year was great, almost too great. But I woke this morning and was eager, a little tired from the trip, but was eager to get over here; more so than last year at this time, to get this back on track. I feel that confident that it will right itself in the end. I don't rank any on or off the field deals, but I'm excited about this deal."

Q. How well have you been able to focus in light of the distractions?

A. "I think great. In 300 and something games, playing a team that probably gives you the most exotic blitzes that you'll ever face. I think [Jets coach] Rex Ryan a couple of times blitzed. I felt as confident as I've ever felt in protection and was making calls and trying to direct traffic. That's hard to do anyway. Now I prepared very hard, as you'd expect, but I knew there were going to be things that we hadn't seen. Much like this week, we might see some different things. This week it might be a little tougher to prepare because of the short week and the fact that we got in at 5 in the morning. I was over here last night watching some film. I feel as confident knowing that it's going to be tougher because there are new guys that we're throwing into the mix. I'm feeling like from my standpoint you have to offset that by doing some extra work, or making sure that you can tell this guy to do that. But I feel very good about preparation. I think it's as good if not better."

In fairness, the answers aren't bad, but it's clear Favre is not going to go down the path of mentioning anything about what's going on with his life at home or the potential discipline he faces from the NFL. Favre did far more dancing in his postgame news conference on Monday night after the Vikings lost to the Jets.

The flip side would be Favre could quit doing interviews all together so this is preferable. It's just an interesting strategy to watch.
