THE Traveler: Jeff Cepek of Edina.

The scene: From atop Clouds Rest, a mountain in Yosemite National Park's high country (elevation 9,900 feet), views take in the park's iconic Half Dome, Yosemite Valley and the Yosemite Wilderness.

Destination: "Clouds Rest is accessible for only a few months of the year when the high country in Yosemite is open to visitors after the winter snow has been cleared from Tioga Road. With a bit of planning and inquiring, Yosemite Wilderness areas like Clouds Rest are a must to explore when visiting the park," Cepek wrote in an e-mail.

How he got The shot: "It is a strenuous 15-mile round-trip hike to Clouds Rest. Once there, the terrain is very narrow and uneven. After backtracking a few yards and attempting to gain a more stable footing, I took the photo once I was able to get Half Dome in the frame. I knelt down to get a better perspective of the slabs of granite I was standing on," Cepek wrote. "I wanted to give the viewer a perspective of Yosemite that only a few have the opportunity to experience." His camera: a Nikon D5500 with a Tamron 10-24 mm lens.
