On the weekend before Valentine's Day, runners appeared to turn Nicollet Mall into a strip mall on Saturday afternoon for Cupid's Undie Run, a fundraiser for the Children's Tumor Foundation. The event, new to Minneapolis this year, was being held in 16 other U.S. cities plus Sydney, Australia; at least $1 million was raised for research.

A 19-year-old college student from southeastern Minnesota has been crowned the 63rd Princess Kay of the Milky Way.
Haley Hinrichs, a 19-year-old college student from Goodhue, Minn., was crowned the 63rd Princess Kay of the Milky Way at the Minnesota State Fair on Wednesday night. Hinrichs represents Goodhue County, in southeastern Minnesota.
Fair stalwart 4-H has a long history of promoting the state's agricultural practices while educating city slickers on where their food comes from. Around 5,600 4-H kids from sixth grade through college freshmen will travel to the fair, having earned the spot from their performance at county competitions, to exhibit livestock and showcase fine arts projects.
