A look at new Vikings receiver Michael Floyd

The former Cretin-Derham Hall and Notre Dame standout is back in his home state.

New Viking Michael Floyd

Age: 27 (born Nov. 27, 1989, in St. Paul)

Height, weight: 6-3, 220

High school: Cretin-Derham Hall. He was the 2007 Star Tribune metro player of the year.

College: Notre Dame. Set school records for career receptions (271), 100-yard games (16), receiving yards (3,689) and receiving touchdowns (37).

Drafted: 13th overall in 2012 by Arizona.

With the Cardinals: Five seasons, 242 receptions, 3,739 yards, 23 touchdowns. He had a career-high 65 catches and 1,041 receiving yards in 2013. The Vikings haven't had a 1,000-yard receiver since 2009.

Last season: Cut by the Cardinals in December after a drunken-driving arrest, Floyd was signed by New England. He was on the Patriots roster for 51 days and caught just four passes. But he made $1.2 million and won a championship ring even though he appeared in only one postseason game and did not play in the Super Bowl.

Troubles: Last December, he was arrested and charged with two counts of drunken driving after he was found passed out behind the wheel of his car. He was found guilty of extreme drunken driving in February and sentenced to 24 days in prison and 96 days of house arrest. He also got a drunken-driving citation while at Notre Dame.

Next up: Floyd agreed to a one-year, $1.5 million deal with the Vikings that includes up to $6 million in incentives. He is facing an NFL suspension for his conviction and must remain in Arizona until mid-June under terms of his sentence.
