The four-way Republican governor's race in the primary is dividing GOP House lawmakers as they start choosing sides.

Marty Seifert, a former House minority leader from Marshall, and Hennepin County Commissioner Jeff Johnson last week each released lists of lawmakers who back them.

Rep. Kurt Zellers, a former House Speaker from Maple Grove, recently did the same. The three candidates will face one another and businessman Scott Honour, the only one of the quartet who has not served in the Legislature, in an Aug. 12 primary.

Johnson, who carries his party's endorsement, also has the longest list of lawmaker support — 28 current and former Republican legislators. Seifert has 21 lawmakers backing him, while Zellers has 16.

Honour, who has no legislative endorsements yet, took a whack at his rivals through his campaign's Twitter account. A July 23 post read "BREAKING: Career politicians support other career politicians."
