A day to

remember Collins

Bills Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly retired in 1996, turning the job over to Todd Collins, a second-round draft pick out of Michigan in 1995.

In his fourth game as Kelly's replacement, Collins orchestrated the second-largest regular-season comeback in NFL history, leading the Bills from a 26-0 deficit to a 37-35 victory over the visiting Colts.

"I don't know what happened to him in Buffalo, but the boy could play," said Vikings backup quarterback Kelly Holcomb, who was with the Colts that day, but did not play. "And now, to go 10 years between starts, and win. That's incredible."

Collins started 13 games for Buffalo in 1997 and left for Kansas City the next year. Ten years and two days after his last start for Buffalo, Collins led the Redskins to a 22-10 victory over the Giants last Sunday.

In that victory over the Colts 10 years ago, Collins completed 23 of 38 passes for 275 yards and two touchdowns. He overcame six sacks, two lost fumbles and an interception.
